Charlie Kaufman and his "Merry Band of Pranksters"
It was only a matter of time.
A quick Google blog search informed me of Charlie Kaufman's Merry Band of Pranksters, Fabulists, and Dreamers, a book highlighting Kaufman, his contemporaries (Payne, Jonze, two Andersons, et al.), and their idiosyncratic sensibilities.
The book, subtitled, An Excursion Into the American New Wave, is expected to be released this Thursday in the UK. Americans, across the pond, however will have to wait a bit longer - Merry Band of Pranksters hits the streets in September.
Is Armond White gonna be pissed, or what? That was the book he was born to write, after all.
Updated 5/17:
The author, Derek Hill, wrote on his blog:
My hope is that it will appeal to film lovers of all stripes, from those with a more scholarly bent to the pop-culture subgeniuses to the novices who don’t know their Godard from their Gondry.
